Members of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association hosted by the Public Agency for Civil Aviation together with the Ministry of Infrastructure

11. October 2023

The September meeting of the members of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association was an extremely important event after the summer holidays, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure.

This year's meeting was particularly interesting and topical as it focused on the use of drones. As drones have become an important tool in the field of safety, the theme of the meeting was chosen to explore the challenges and opportunities that their use brings.

The event was opened by the President of the Association, Dr Denisa Čaleta, who stressed the importance of discussing this growing topic. This was followed by welcoming speeches by Mr Damjan Horvat from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Mr Jureto Griljc from the Civil Aviation Agency. Both emphasised how crucial it is to discuss the regulation and use of drones.

They then handed over the floor to Mr Peter Čičerov, expert from the Civil Aviation Agency, who impressed the audience with his interesting lecture on drones. He explained all of the EU legislation governing the use of drones and gave a detailed presentation of the different categories, including open, special and certified. He also stressed the importance of pilot training for the open category and presented the procedure for requesting flights.

He also presented the UAS Repository, an online application for operator registration and remote pilot training.

The last part of the lecture included a demonstration of the geographical areas in the Republic of Slovenia where flight restrictions and bans are in place, and tried to make members understand the importance of complying with the rules and legislation in this area.

After a very interesting lecture, a debate followed in which members had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views with the hosts.

At the end, the President of the Association, Dr. Denis Čaleta, thanked all the participants for their active participation and expressed his satisfaction with the excellent organisation of the event and presented them with a plaque of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association.

The meeting ended in a pleasant atmosphere, where participants relaxed with a chat and a banquet, and left with a richer understanding of the importance and challenges of drones in the field of corporate security.
