Geostrategic views about migration crisis on the EU's external borders

16. March 2020

Dr. Denis Caleta made some strategic assessments of the EU's geo-strategic position and the serious challenges posed by the re-migration crisis, in addition to the unmanageable consequences of COVID-19 expansion. Turkish President Erdogan wanted to improve his bargaining position in the complex international relations that Turkey has found at the geostrategic chessboard. The unfortunate fact that even this time regional players are playing with the lives of migrants once again reminds us of the realization that in some parts of the world the life of an individual is of little value. This time, the EU has also reacted more decisively and coherently, even because it cannot afford to replicate the unmanageable situation of 2015 and 2016.

You can read about the situation, the causes and the challenges and the measures Slovenia has to take to protect its national security in the following two interviews, published on the web portal Domovina.
