On the first day of the 14th International Conference "Days of Corporate Security 2023", the European project APPRAISE "Facilitating public & private security operators to mitigate terrorism scenarios against soft targets" was presented, among other projects, in which the Slovenian partners BTC, MNZ/Police and the Institute for Corporate Security Studies - ICS Ljubljana play an extremely important role. The presentation of the project was given by a member of the Slovenian pilot team, Matija Repina from BTC. The project presentation included, among others, a presentation of the exercise that was carried out on 11 May 2023, which was also open to the professional public. The exercise tested new procedural and technological approaches in a real environment and in real time, which will enable the introduction of state-of-the-art technologies and skills and better cooperation between public and private security stakeholders in the field of protection of public spaces in the event of terrorist and other related attacks. The exercise was organised at the Atlantis Water City in BTC City Ljubljana, which is one of the four pilots of the APPRAISE project. The exercise demonstrated the applicability of the process and technology approaches developed so far within the APPRAISE project and provided a quality basis for further development and testing of the process and technology approaches in the other three pilots organised within the APPRAISE project. The Slovenian Police also took part in the exercise and used the opportunity to test their capabilities, equipment, organisation, tactics and effectiveness in dealing with such security events and incidents.
