A new EU-funded project HOMAGE kicks off
On October 12-13th, partners from across Europe gathered in Thessaloniki, Greece, for the kick-off meeting of the new EU-funded project HOMAGE. The meeting was hosted by the project coordinator, CERTH.
Cyberattacks, climate-driven disasters, and hybrid threats increasingly combine into cascading crises. Yet the people who must make high-stakes decisions under pressure are often treated as a bottleneck rather than a strength. HOMAGE takes a different view. It brings human factors and AI together in a single human-AI co-reasoning approach, designed to support operators facing fatigue, overload, and uncertainty.
The consortium brings together 13 partners from 8 countries, spanning technology developers, social science and governance experts, and security practitioners.
Over 36 months, the project will build datasets on human cognition under pressure and multi-hazard cascading risks, and AI-driven tools for forecasting, adaptive decision support, and post-crisis learning. Results will be validated in three real-world pilots in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure, with Ireland’s Shannon Airport, Greek Independent Power Transmission Operator, and Italy’s Insiel as pilot operators.
The kick-off meeting was a chance to meet all partners in person and plan activities for the first few months of the project.
