The necessity of creating a flexible national ecosystem for training personnel in the field of cyber security

The challenges brought by the demanding security environment with included security threats call for the implementation of a substantively important national consultation on the necessity of creating a flexible national ecosystem for the training of personnel in the field of cyber security.

Content of the conference

In view of the fact that we urgently need adequately trained staff in the field of cyber security in various key environments, the question arises here as to what is not working effectively for us in the current system, so that we fail to train at least an approximately sufficient number of the necessary experts through the education system. Challenges already arise in the lack of interest in entering the education system in this field, which represents a significant problem in the entire cycle, as it is difficult to carry out appropriate selection and specialization with a limited number. In the overall perspective, however, the biggest challenge is definitely the drastic lack of this personnel potential. Each of the stakeholders is aware of the shortcomings within their narrow scope of competence and capacity, but we need a systemic approach, national consensus and directing the use of resources, which could help to form an appropriate national ecosystem of flexible education in the field of cyber security.

In addition to the security challenges, the whole matter must also be placed in the perspective of new normative requirements and, above all, the unsuspected development of information technologies, of which artificial intelligence is currently the most exposed in all its application dilemmas.

The aforementioned national consultation is aimed at opening an open discussion and finding positive conclusions that would help strategic institutions in the Republic of Slovenia to find effective ways to create the previously mentioned dynamic educational ecosystem in the field of training experts in the field of cyber security. It is even more important that, with the help of previous experience, we want to help strategic management and the professional public to indicate good points in the implementation and construction of a system that is more responsive and adapted to the real needs of the market.
